Holy God, Righteous One, Lord of Lords:
You reveal yourself in glory.
You speak, and the whole earth stands in awe of you.

This is our God, the One who will come and will not keep silence;
Before him there is a consuming flame,
And round about him a raging storm.
Worship the Majestic One who makes a covenant with his people,
And seals it with sacrifice.
Let all his loyal followers draw near and listen to his judgment.

What can we do to make ready our hearts for you?
Show us how to prepare your way, O Lord.
We come to you in repentance and humility,
And we desire to give you level paths to our hearts.
Hear now the prayers and thanksgivings we offer in your name.

Silence.

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

We pray for the worldwide church.
May your church increase and abound in love for one another and for all.
Give us newfound joy and increasing love for our brothers and sisters around the world.

Grow your church in the grace and knowledge of you, Lord Christ,
And establish our hearts blameless in holiness
As we wait for and hasten your coming.
We commit the work of the Church to you, especially…

Silence.

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

Sovereign Lord, you are the help and hope of all nations.
You care for the people of all lands:
The hungry and oppressed,
Those who live in peace and prosperity,
And those bowed down with troubles,
The righteous and the wicked – all souls are yours.

We think of all the areas in the world that are torn by war, disease and hunger,
Communities that are overridden by corruption and injustice,
Places where the poor and oppressed cry out,
Places where the rich and well-fed are weighed down and heavy-hearted.
We humbly tell you of the needs we see in the world around us,
And ask that your kingdom would come to all people.

Silence.

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

We pray for the needs of our community here in Seattle.
Grow in us a greater love for our neighbors, our classmates and coworkers, our families, friends, and enemies.
Help us to foster uncomplaining spirits, and put far from us idle, critical speech.
Give us a love for your creation and the wisdom to steward your earth responsibly.
Help us to live this week expecting you, Lord Jesus, to come into every area of our lives, especially…

Silence.

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

O Lord, as we consider the suffering and trouble of those near to us,
Grant us the mind of Christ to look on pain and yet trust in your character.

We believe that you come to your people, even in the midst of suffering.
We remember those who suffer in body, mind, and spirit.
Come to them now, merciful Lord, and sustain them in your presence.
We commit to your care all those in pain, especially…

Silence.

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

We trust your Word, that Jesus is the firstborn among many brethren,
That those who have died in Christ will also live with him.

Help us to believe this promise of eternal life and, so believing, to eagerly await your return.
We entrust to your continual care our brothers and sisters who have died in the faith, especially…

Silence.

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

You are our God.
We will declare it without fear:
Behold, the Lord God who comes with might!
Behold, the Lord God who rules the earth!
Behold, the Lord God who comes with reward and recompense!
This is our God,
The glorious one,
The one who promises us redemption,
The one who is King over all the earth.

Silence

We wait for you alone through Jesus Christ our Lord,
Amen.

In faith, let us pray to the Lord, saying…

Jesus, light of the world
May the whole earth know your brightness.

The heavens declare your righteousness, Mighty God,
Fro you are the judge of all the earth.
Your spoken word sustains all that you have made,
And you call the whole world into your presence.
We depend upon your covenant, O Lord,
And by your sacrifice we name ourselves your people.
Come, Almighty God, and do not keep silence,
For on you depends the hope of all the earth.

Silence

Jesus is the light of the world
May the whole earth know his brightness.

We pray for the world,
For the many people who do not yet know you,
For those who scoff or think lightly of the precious name of Jesus,
And for those who have forsaken belief in you.
Lord Christ, you are the Holy One of God.
The beloved Son of the Father,
In whom he is well pleased.
May all nations listen to you
And give you right and due honor and glory.
I invite your prayers for specific countries and individuals in need of the Gospel.

Silence

Jesus, light of the world
May the whole earth know your brightness.

We lift our voices with your worldwide church,
And we praise you that you have revealed yourself to your people.
We confess that, as your church, we are often fearful,
And we sometimes feel that we alone have been faithful.
Strengthen our weak wills, merciful Lord,
That we might run hard the race set before us,
And grant us grace that we might, in faith, look to you only, Lord Jesus.
We trust your eternal purposes for your church.
We rejoice that we belong to a great fellowship of faithful believers.
We sing and make music to you, for you have heard your people’s prayers,
And you will fulfill all that concerns us.
I invite your prayers for the faithful witness of the worldwide church.

Silence

Jesus, light of the world
May the whole earth know your brightness.

We pray for the poor, the oppressed, the hungry, and the sick;
The broken and despairing;
The lonely and those afflicted by doubt and fear.
We think of orphans and widows, prisoners and slaves,
Those struggling with addiction and pain.
The burden of the world is too great for us,
And the groaning of suffering too much for us to bear!
Have mercy on all that you have made, O Lord!
In your infinite compassion and wisdom,
Proclaim your rule of righteousness to the ends of the earth.
Lift up those who are bowed down,
Set their feet on sure ground,
That many would see and put their trust in you.
For you alone are the hope of the afflicted,
You alone are the one who restores all things.
I invite your prayers for all who suffer in body, mind, or spirit.

Silence

Jesus, light of the world
May the whole earth know your brightness.

We thank you for your church.
How beautiful is the bride of Christ, stretching back throughout the ages and across the world, crossing boundaries of time and place!
We remember now those who have gone before us, those who have died in the faith, trusting that they are in your care.

Silence

Jesus, light of the world
May the whole earth know your brightness.

Lord of all the earth, your light shines in the darkness,
And your glory is reflected in our Lord Jesus Christ.
Fill the earth with your image, Lord Christ.
Give us courage to proclaim you alone as Lord.
We lay the upcoming week before you,
And commit all our cares and concerns into your hands.

Transform us, O Lord, to be a people who clearly and brightly reflect the light of our Lord Jesus Christ, Through whom we humbly pray, Amen.
