King of all the earth,
Creator of the universe,
Holy Triune God,
From everlasting to everlasting, you are Lord.

Your loving-kindness is better than life itself;
We will bless you as long as we live.

You have contented our souls with living water;
We will bless you as long as we live.

You shelter us in the safety of your presence;
We will bless you as long as we live.

Our souls cling to you, and your right hand holds us fast;
We will bless you as long as we live.

This is our God, the Holy One.
Come before him with thanksgiving and offer him the sacrifice of praise.

Silence.

How worthy you are, Holy God, to receive all our praise.  We worship you in the glory of your perfect Trinity and ask for grace to steadfastly believe and proclaim your unity.

We pray for your holy catholic church;
We belong to you, Lord Christ.

You have cleansed us and made us your children and heirs;
Pour your spirit of grace and mercy on us.

Grant that every member of the church may truly and humbly serve you;
That your name may be glorified by all people.

We pray for all bishops, priests, and deacons;
That they may be faithful ministers of your Word and Sacraments.

I invite you to add your own prayers for the worldwide church.

Silence.

Creator of the earth, you spoke the world into existence and sustain all things by your life giving word.  Consider the toil and sorrow of the people of the earth and, in your compassion, have mercy on the world.

We pray for all who govern and hold authority in the nations of the world;
That there may be justice and peace on the earth.

We pray for the poor, the persecuted, the sick, and all who suffer;
For the refugees, prisoners, and all who are in danger;
Relieve and protect them, O Lord, and grant them eternal hope in you.

Teach us how to rightly steward the gift of your creation,
That the resources of the world would be used to your honor and glory.

I invite your prayers for the needs of the world, remembering especially…

Silence.

God of all love and peace, we come to you in faith, offering you access into every area of our lives.

We pray for this congregation,
That we might lose our lives for your sake.

Deliver us from hardness of heart;
Grant us the will to follow hard after you.

We look to you, Lord of all, mindful of our helplessness,
Glorify your name in the midst of our need.

I invite you to cast all your cares and concerns on the Lord, remembering that He cares for you.

Silence.

We praise you for your saints who have entered into joy;
May we also come to share in your heavenly kingdom.

We believe in you, Lord Christ.
We cry out to you, Father God.
We receive your witness, Holy Spirit.
Abide with us as we abide in you this week and always, through Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

In faith, let us pray to the Lord, saying….

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

We will bless you as long as we live, Holy God,
And in your name will we lift up our hands.
You have satisfied our souls with rich food,
And your steadfast love is better than life itself.
We meditate on your power and glory,
And we sing for joy in the shadow of your wings.
Our souls cling to you;
Your right hand upholds us.
Bless the Lord all you people!
Bless his holy name!

I invite your praises and thanksgivings to the Lord.

Silence

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

You are the rightful Lord of the whole creation,
And you alone are worthy of the worship and service of all people.
May your kingdom come in the midst of unrest and war,
Set to rights our earth ridden with corruption and violence, brutality and suffering.
We commit into your care the plight of the world,
Asking that your life-giving Word would spread to every corner of the globe.

I invite you to pray for the world, remembering especially Barack, our president, and the other leaders of our country.

Silence

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

Lord Jesus Christ,
You are our God, and we are your people.
Give your people humility of mind,
That we might take care lest we fall into temptation and sin.
Enable us to have courage in the face of temptation,
And to seize the way of escape and endurance you promise.
Move your church to repentance,
Quicken our hearts to respond to you,
And make your people fruitful as we share in the power of your death and resurrection,
That your name would be glorified to the ends of the earth.

I invite you to pray for the church throughout the world.

Silence

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

We ask that your will be done in our lives and in the world.
We humble ourselves before you, praying for all that weighs heavily on our hearts as we remember our own cares and the needs of others.
We pray for those who suffer because of injustice and human evil.
We remember victims of abuse, slaves, prisoners, orphans, widows, and those captive to addictions and despair.
We pray for the depressed, the lonely and forgotten, for those weighed down by anxiety and guilt, and for anyone whose spirit has been crushed and deeply wounded.
We remember the starving, the sick, the poor, the homeless, the terminally ill, and those crippled by pain and infirmity.
The groaning of the world is too much for us to bear.
Come quickly to us, Lord Jesus, you who took on flesh and understand all our pain.
Let us drink deeply of the peace of your presence.

I invite you to pray for the needs of others.

Silence

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

We ask that you would sustain us this week,
And we trust that you are present with us every day.
Give us a hunger for your word,
And help us to make space to listen to you.
We confess our need for you:
For your wisdom and guidance,
For your protection and provision,
For your help and comfort.
In every area of our lives we need you, Lord,
And we ask that you would be our daily portion.

I invite your prayers for the upcoming week..

Silence

Lord, in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

Lord, you know us through and through.
Look in the deep places of our beings, and create in us clean hearts.
Give us a right abhorrence for our own sins.
Help us to be alert and self-controlled,
That we may flee the snares of our enemy.
Reveal areas of unconfessed sin,
And give us godly sorrow that leads to repentance.
Show us where we have withheld forgiveness,
And, because of your great mercy, grant us grace to forgive others.
Deliver us from evil, Merciful Father,
And sustain us with your gracious and bountiful Spirit.

I invite your prayers for repentance, forgiveness, and deliverance from evil.

Silence

Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

We thank you for your church,
For all who have been given your grace in Christ Jesus.
We remember now those who have gone before us, those who have died in the faith, trusting that they are in your care.

I invite your thanksgivings to God for those who have died in the faith.

Silence

Lord in your mercy,
Hear our prayer.

Holy God, you dwell among your people,
And our hearts are full of gratitude for your closeness.
Who is like you, O Lord?
Your majesty astounds us,
Your holiness overwhelms us,
And yet, in your mercy you draw near to us.
You are the great I AM,
The holy one who visits salvation upon all people.
We are lost in the slavery of our bentness.
Call us forth into freedom that we might stand up straight,
Glorifying you through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

In faith, let us pray to the Lord, saying…

Jesus, light of the world
May the whole earth know your brightness.

O God, you are our God.
We eagerly seek you in your holy place
That we might behold your power and your glory.
Our lips will praise you, and we will bless you as long as we live,
For your loving-kindness is better than life itself.
You have been our helper,
And under the shadow of your wings we will rejoice.
There is none like you, O Lord our God,
And you are worthy of all praise, glory, and honor from every man, woman, and child.
May the greatness of your name be magnified in all nations.

Silence

Jesus is the light of the world
May the whole earth know his brightness.

We pray for the world,
For the many people who do not yet know you,
For those who scoff or think lightly of the precious name of Jesus,
And for those who have not received your word.
Speak to them, O Lord,
And grant them ears to hear the good news of your deliverance.

I invite your prayers for specific countries and individuals in need of the Gospel.

Silence

Jesus, light of the world
May the whole earth know your brightness.

We lift our voices with your worldwide church,
And we praise you that you have washed us,
That you have sanctified us,
That you have justified us,
And that you have joined us to yourself, Lord Christ.
We marvel at the riches of your grace,
A grace that makes your church one in spirit with you, the holy, triune God!

Silence

Jesus, light of the world
May the whole earth know your brightness.

We belong to you, Lord Christ,
For you have bought us with a costly price.
We desire to glorify you with our bodies.
Holy Spirit, help us to flee sexual immorality and every kind of sin,
That our bodies may be a pleasing dwelling place for you.
Bring the cleansing light of your presence into every area of our lives, especially…

Silence

Jesus, light of the world
May the whole earth know your brightness.

We pray for the poor, the oppressed, the hungry, and the sick;
The broken and despairing;
The lonely and those afflicted by doubt and fear.
We think of orphans and widows, prisoners and slaves,
Those struggling with addiction and pain.
The burden of the world is too great for us,
And the groaning of suffering too much for us to bear!
Have mercy on all that you have made, O Lord!
In your infinite compassion and wisdom,
Proclaim your rule of righteousness to the ends of the earth.
Lift up those who are bowed down,
Set their feet on sure ground,
That many would see and put their trust in you.
For you alone are the hope of the afflicted,
You alone are the one who restores all things.

I invite your prayers for all who suffer in body, mind, or spirit.

Silence

Jesus, light of the world
May the whole earth know your brightness.

We thank you for your church.
How beautiful is the bride of Christ, stretching back throughout the ages and across the world, crossing boundaries of time and place!
We remember now those who have gone before us, those who have died in the faith, trusting that they are in your care.

Silence

Jesus, light of the world
May the whole earth know your brightness.

Transform us, O Lord, to be a people who clearly and brightly reflect the light of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Through whom we humbly pray, Amen.
